Ascona is not only the name of an old car model by the Opel company (or Vauxhall for all the British out there) and a beautiful city in Switzerland, but also of an up-and-coming band from Germany. The band know how to put sophisticated songwriting into clever arrangements and do not let you think of another way these songs could have been played. “This Could Be Your Part To Sing!”, released by the respected indie Day-Glo Records and distributed via PIAS/Rough Trade in 2007, is the band’s first official album release. Pop songs that hit you on the right spot and that are played with a distinct feeling of immediacy lead to only one conclusion: This vehicle is tight and well-oiled.
